Why join SGIMBC?
Joining the Society of General Internal Medicine of BC (SGIMBC) would allow you to be part of a larger voice to advocate for General Internal Medicine (GIM) to organizations such as MSP, DoBC, CMA and others. A larger voice means more power to improve compensation, working conditions and other benefits.
SGIMBC recently advocated for several new fee codes, specific to GIM that are ~60% higher than the previous available fee codes, a substantial increase to previous fees. This ensured that General Internists were being compensated fairly for their services.
Additionally, we have prepared a comprehensive report from KPMG that will help us advocate for GIM interests in the long term. We are actively liaising with Canadian Society of Internal Medicine and American College of Physicians for education and advancement of SGIM in future.
Benefits
- You will be made aware of new and updated fee codes as soon as they happen.
- Be a part of the conversation on the future directions of GIM in the province and the country. Our goal is to create the best environment to practice GIM but this is different across the province and across practice styles and types. We need input to move forward in everyone’s best interest.
- Get to know your colleagues in order to support and learn from each other.
- Access to the member’s only section of our website that lists mentorship and job opportunities; a member-only forum; billing tips; AGM minutes; access to CME and more.
